We’ve listed some frequently asked questions below. If you have a question that isn’t below, please feel free to drop us a line or fill in the contact form with your question.
How close are you to the coast?
We are equidistance from both the North and South coasts meaning it’s easy to explore the rugged Northern coastline or the gentler rolling Southern, as well as all the ancient fishing ports and eateries that both have to offer.
What is there to do near you?
Our position makes it easy to easily explore the whole of Cornwall. We are close to both North and South coasts as well as numerous attractions. Lanhydrock House is less than 5 minutes away, as well as the Eden Project, Bodmin Jail, and adventure sports providers. There’s walking and biking in Cardinham Woods at the end of the drive as well as on Bodmin Moor, or you can catch a sea safari from Padstow, together with many other things to do. There’s an extensive guest information pack in your cottage to help you decide what you’d like to do or where you’d like to visit.
I have an electric car, where’s the nearest charging point?
We have two 7kw EV charging points on site so that you don’t have to stress about running out of power. You just need to connect your charging cable and log in via the app.
Where are the nearest shops?
Bodmin is less than 5 minutes away and has 5 supermarkets and 2 garages, plus there’s a retail park approximately 15 minutes down the road.
What’s included in my stay?
To make it easy, we include electricity, bedding and towels, shampoo, and body wash, as well as kitchen utensils and an initial supply of some basics such as loo roll, tea, coffee, and milk.
What time is check in & check out?
Cottages are generally available from 4 pm and we ask that you depart by 10 am. However, we will try and accommodate any special requests if we can.
Do you have bikes?
We don’t have bikes on site, but we can arrange bike hire for you. Either let us know at the time of booking or whilst you are here. There are plenty of places to cycle and explore. The Camel Trail runs from Bodmin to Padstow and makes for a great day out, Cardinham Woods has cycle trails and is at the end of the drive and Lanhydrock is a 5-minute cycle away.

For the enjoyment of all our guests and to reduce the risk of fire, especially during the summer, we have designated the whole site as non-smoking and vaping.

That’s a controversial question! It’s down to personal taste. There’re numerous places locally including Malcolm Barnecott, Rowes and Choughs in Padstow to name but a few.
What’s the difference between a Cornish & Devon pasty?
Apart from the fact that everything in Cornwall is better, Devon pasties are crimped over the top while Cornish pasties are crimped round the edge.
Jam or Cream first?
Traditionally, in Cornwall, jam goes on first. You can of course do it the other way…but it may raise some eyebrows!

Yes. Rick divides his time between Padstow, London and Australia but still spends much of his time locally.
Do the Fisherman’s Friends still perform in St Issac?
Until recently, they used to perform every Friday on the Platt (harbour). Unfortunately, the crowds got too large and so had to stop. They do occasionally do the odd impromptu gig…You never know, you may be lucky!
